🦍☕Coffee Increases Testosterone and Lowers Estrogens In Men!

🦍☕ Coffee can lower estrogens and boost Testosterone (R)

In the study referenced, when men drank coffee for several weeks, their total testosterone levels increased, and their free and total estradiol (the main Estrogen) decreased by a substantial amount.

There are several mechanisms behind the effects of coffee (and caffeine) on testosterone and estradiol, including modulation of dopamine, prolactin, noradrenaline (norepinephrine), aromatase, inflammation, adenosine, and more.

Coffee also contains small amounts of Boron, a mineral that has powerful anti-estrogenic, anti-inflammatory, and testosterone boosting effects.

Coffee also contains antioxidants, which contribute to its effects on inflammation.

There are also indirect mechanisms of coffee and/or caffeine on testosterone, such as higher motivation to exercise, which can lead to increases in testosterone (either from the exercise itself, the exposure to sunlight, or fat loss as a result of higher energy output).

Coffee also has appetite-suppressing effects, which can once again lead to fat loss or a lower desire to consume inflammatory (and thus testosterone-lowering) foods.

In short, there are many reasons behind the positive effects of coffee on testosterone.

But beware, as the effects are not permanent, and excessive caffeine consumption can boost cortisol (the stress hormone) and interfere with sleep. Caffeine can also make people train past their bodies’ ability to recover, leading to “overtraining” or what I prefer to call “under-recovering”.

I recommend only taking coffee early in the morning, on days that you already feel decent, already had good sleep, and just want to add a boost to your cognition and energy levels. Take breaks occasionally (complete days off from coffee and caffeine) in order to keep your caffeine sensitivity high.
